Kenny at Washington State University. It is at times referred to as "super Cascade" because of its similar citric characteristic. Centennial is a much-celebrated hop in its versatility with its depth of bitterness and forward aroma — two characteristics that balance each other beautifully. Hops die back to the ground each winter and then explode with rampant upright growth each spring; mature plants can grow over 20' in a single season! Young shoots may be used in salads or as an asparagus substitute; the paper-ey blossoms are ready for harvest in the fall. These fast-growing herbaceous vines quickly cover wires or a trellis to make an attractive screen, decorate an arch, or provide shade against a sunny wall.

Space plants at least 8’ apart in full sun and rich, well-drained, light soil. Less tolerant of wet soils than other varieties and more tolerant of higher alkaline conditions. Cold hardy to USDA zone 4.

Click here to read our Hop Growing Guide

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0765/2248/7963/files/shutterstock-1471685276-_1_11230ed7-894f-4d2e-9d57-a914cb68b970.jpg?v=1779970070
