Ripening time is the latter part of August for this\u003c\/span\u003e pungent, delicious, glossy dark red, oval fruit averaging 1 1\/4 inches long. Makes great preserves. An outstanding edible ornamental, with its foamy yellow haze of tiny flowers covering the tree in February! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWonderfully cold hardy and resistant to insects and disease.
